You’d probably be more aware of it when content creators tell you to go to their Amazon storefronts or use links in their bios. They promote a product or service and direct you where to go. When you use their unique link, a piece of code tracks the sale back to them, earning them a commission if the purchase happens within a specified time frame.

It tends to work in two primary ways:
